Welcome to the Week 10 Newsletter. After a wonderful bonus long weekend for all, we return for the final two weeks of first term. We have timed this newsletter for Thursday this week so we can follow it with the final newsletter of the term for next Thursday 11th and thereby coinciding with the final day of term.
Partners in Learning
This week, we complete the Partners in Learning Conferences, and it has been wonderful to see the participation of all "partners" in that learning with the addition of perhaps the most critical partner - the learner themselves. We have had over 250 meetings across 14 classes. We have set, discussed and now plan for more than 800 learning goals across 345 students. I want to acknowledge and thank the staff for their commitment to these meetings and of course the parents for investing in this critical foundation of our Partners in Learning priority.
Important Dates for the End of Term
Next week is a busy one to finish so post the following events poster for your reference along with the First Day of Term reminder.
Have a great week,
Jules Mulhearn

The interview process has commenced and the timeline for enrolments is as below.
Compass
By now families should have compass log in information, usernames and passowrds. It is important that you use this app as it is a critical part of our school communication.
- Our staff use this app to contact parents, upload school reports, mark rolls and much more.
- Parent are able to submit attendance notifictions on the app, check reports, and review, pay and download fee statements.
Compass is also used for all our school events and permisssion must be done in order for your child to attend. The form below allows both parents to be listed as "joint" account holders and therefore allowing either parent to provide permission for an excursion/event. The default on COMPASS is that both parents can view the event BUT only the parent listed as fee payer can provide permission. Many parents elect to change this. If you wish this to happen, please complete the form.

THE EASTER SEASON!
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!! You may be asking yourself why I am wishing you a Happy Easter now that the Easter Holidays are over, Easter Eggs are are selling for half price to make room for Mother's Day goodies and we are now back at school. The answer is this; we are still very much within the season of Easter as the Easter season does not end after Easter Sunday. The special and joyful season of Easter continues for 50 days through until Pentecost Sunday.
In the Easter season we will hear of the Risen Jesus appearing to his disciples. Those
appearances of Jesus convey to his weak and failed disciples forgiveness, acceptance and love. As Catholics in the world of today we are called to witness to the values of the Gospel in an increasingly secular and challenging environment. It takes courage and commitment to be faithful to the values of the Gospel and the teachings of the Church in the world today. When we fail, as we can do in our discipleship, let us recall the appearances of the Risen Jesus to his disciples.
As we look towards Pentecost the Easter Scripture readings will tell us that faithfulness in discipleship is only possible by the power of the Holy Spirit. This time of Easter reminds us of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, of the gifts of the Holy Spirit that we have received, and that it is only with the power of the Holy Spirit that we can be disciples of Jesus Christ.
So as you continue to enjoy your Easter Eggs and Easter Feast left overs remember that the Risen Jesus dwells amongst us, guiding us, loving us and supporting us.
A prayer to share:
May the glory
and the promise
of this joyous time of year
bring peace
and happiness to you
and those you hold most dear.
And may Christ,
Our Risen Saviour,
always be there by your side
to bless you
most abundantly
and be your loving guide. Amen
Fundraising for Caritas.
Congratulations to for guessing the correct number of Easter Eggs in our Easter Egg Guessing Competition. In total we raised $150.00. We ask that students continue to bring in loose change for the Project Compassion Moneyboxes that can be found in each classes sacred space. There is also a moneybox in the foyer of the school office if you would like to drop some coins in there. These boxes will remain in classrooms until Thursday 11th April. We ask that you please give generously to this important organisation. If you would like to learn more about Project Compassion please follow this link: https://www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion/

Teaching and Curriculum Update
Student Goals at SBE
The teachers have been working tirelessly this term and are ready for a break...as are the students! As part of our whole school focus towards enhancing the capacity of all students as assessment capable students, they have continued their work in assessing using rubrics and providing specific feedback to each student with their individual learning goals for English and Maths. These goals were formed in consulation with the students, based on their work samples, and communicated to parents at our recent parent/teacher conferences and through student insights.
To ensure these goals are at the forefront in the classrooms, the teachers are developing Bump It Up Walls specific to the needs of each classroom and linked to the individual learning goals of each student. A bump it up wall shows a clear progression of learning for the students to strive to and work towards in order to constantly improve their learning. It may also include worked examples for the class to reference.
Here are some examples of some individual student goals displayed and Bump It Up Walls in the classrooms at SBE.
Easter Celebrations - This Week and Last Week.
Perhaps because it often our first community event/ celebration of the year , but I am always so excited and energised by our Easter celebration, namely the P & F Easter Raffles and Hat Parade last Thursday. It was a sea of colour and excitement that saw us celebrate the forthcoming last weekend and for those lucky ones to have won a prize, I am sure the event was just that little bit tasty. A huge thankyou goes to the members of the P & F working so hard and so often behind the scenes to make these occassions so special for students.
Diocesan Representatives
Congratulations to Archer Guihot (Boys Football) and Billy Johnson (U12s Boys Rugby League) who have been selected to represent our Diocese of Maitland/Newcastle in the upcoming Polding Winter Sports Trials held at Tamworth next term. Both boys trialled successfully at the Diocesan Trials which were held last week. An outstanding effort!!
